OMPT 3: Craniofacial
This 3-day course provides a basic understanding of craniofacial disorders/conditions, including: TMD, Headache and related conditions such as Cervicogenic Dizziness, Tinnitus, Whiplash, and Facial paralysis. This course will also review Chronic pain and provide participants with a practical approach in examination and treatment. This course will provide practical way to differentiate craniofacial symptoms & pain from Cervical, Vestibular, Migraine, Headache, WAD, and central sources of symptoms, including a brief review of concussion. The interrelationship between the cervical spine and the TMJ will be reviewed thoroughly, including neurological craniofacial pain symptoms such as Bell’s Palsy and other facial nerve palsies.
Additionally, evidenced-based TMJ examination and treatment will be covered. Majority of Lab time will allow participants to palpate anatomical structures as they relate to TMD and CFP, and learn examination and treatment techniques not limited to thrust/non-thrust. Dental approaches to TMJ will be reviewed including appropriate orthotic therapy, pharmacology and surgical interventions.
Prerequisite: ONLINE OMPT foundations
