OMPT 1: Cervico-Thoracic 

Course Description 

This lecture and laboratory course is designed to teach the theory, rationale, and evidence supporting cervical spine examination and treatment strategies. The course is designed to enhance psycho-motor skills in manual techniques, including non-thrust and thrust techniques. Live Patient Examination will enhance the participant's learning experience to integrate theory into practice. This course includes both a theoretical and practical content.

Contact Hours: 15 hr. 

This 2-day evidence-based course will provide clinicians the ability to evaluate and manage patients with Cervical Spine pain and dysfunction.

Course Objectives                                                Course Details     

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the current evidence supporting the use of manual therapy and exercise interventions for the Cervical spine. 
  • Explain and demonstrate safety procedures and associated screening examination for the Cervical spine. 
  • Demonstrate competence in performing and interpreting the examination techniques for cervical mobility, strength, endurance, and neurology.
  • Discuss the indications and contraindications for various types of manual therapy and exercise.
  • Exhibit grade 1 -5 Cervical non-thrust &  thrust manipulation on stimulated patients.
  • Interpret responses to treatment and make appropriate recommendations for modification.
  • Analyze results of cervical examination, classify condition and apply exercises according to the patient's findings.

  • This is a various level course for PTs and PTAs
Educational Credit
  • IPTA: 15 contact hours
  • This course content is not intended for use by any participant outside the scope of their license or regulation.
Cancellation Period
  • Registration fee, less $50 administrative fee, is refunded if notice of cancellation is received 10 days in advance of the course date. In the event of an emergency or crisis the participant is encouraged to file a written request for a credit towards their  next course or full refund with Evidence CEU. Evidence CEU reserves the right to cancel a seminar, whereby the full registration fee will be refunded.
